Should we use the human stories of our families, friends, and selves as evidence to legitimate our human rights claims? If so, how may we do so ethically? In answering these questions, Wollstonecraft and Mill emphasized the moral value of crafting an authentic or emotionally honest literature of human rights, proceeding from one’s own deeply felt loves and losses.
